IDM Cape Peninsula - Laurel-leaf Conebush - Leucadendron laureolum

A solid black dot indicates where the species is found.

Leucadendron laureolum - Laurel-leaf Conebush is a robust conebush that hides the female cones within the involucral leaves. Even flowering male heads are never exposed. The ridges on the cone are easy to feel. Herbarium records abound from all over the Peninsula (and to Potberg and Villiersdorp). It was apparently common in Cape Town itself.

Ld laur occurs in three main blocks - Silvermine, the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve and around Grootkop. These are areas of deep, mountain sand. Isolated additional populations also occur. Some of these have been flagged for checking with Ld stro.
