Welgevonden Game Farm Field Trip

I have arranged the next Gauteng atlassing meet to the Welgevonden Game Farm in the Waterberg for the weekend of 21/22 October 2000. This huge area of 30000 hectares is situated in the scenic western Waterberg, adjoining Marakele National Park.

We will be camping at Vaalwater on Friday and Saturday nights. Accommodation at Welgevonden is a tad expensive (R1000 to R2000 per night!), but thankfully they have given us permission to atlas on their game farm.

Species should include Common Sugarbush - Protea caffra, Dwarf Savanna Sugarbush - Protea welwitschii, Transvaal Beechwood - Faurea saligna and possibly Silver-leaf Sugarbush - Protea roupelliae roupelliae and African Sugarbush - Protea gaguedi.

I will be leaving on Friday evening or early Saturday morning, depending on when other people are able to get away. Travel time to Vaalwater is about 2 hours.
