 We
did not only collect data. A variety of additonal publications were produced.
We did not keep track of the number of courses and people attending these, but we gave
courses to Working for Water, South African National Parks, Western Cape Conservation,
WESSA, Natal Parks Board, and a variety of other organizations. We estimate that over 300
field rangers were trained in protea identification and atlassing techniques (which help
in general for plant identification, monitoring, recording and map reading -useful skills
to any field ranger). Some of these rangers achieved spectacular results (see Awards).
For those who want to continue collecting atlas data we have the PAPSRSDB
(Protea Atlas Project Sight Record Sheet Data Base ). |
