A solid black dot indicates where the species is found. Leucadendron
floridum - Flats Conebush once occurred from Kuilsriver and Durban Road (Bellville)
westwards. On the Peninsula it was common at Wynberg, Kenilworth, Rondebosch, Claremont,
Orangekloof, Noordhoek, Bergvliet, Smitswinkel Bay, Glencairn, Theefontein,
Schusterskraal, Brakkloof, Olifantsbos, W of Red Hill, and between Groot and Klein
Slangkop.
Ld flor has been atlassed at Theefontein and Schustersrivier in the Cape of Good Hope
Nature Reserve and near Kleinberg (Ocean View). No other natural extant populations are
known! Apparently many plantings of this species were also attempted on slopes throughout
the Peninsula. The plants from near the Alexander Reservoir appear to be the closely
related Ld uliginosum. The records "0.35km N turnoff Circular Drive"
(CNR) & "N small dam Bortjiesdrif Rd" (CRS) require herbarium records. |
