IDM Cape Peninsula - Green Snake-stem PincushionLeucospermum hypophyllocarpodendron hypophyllocarpodendron

A solid black dot indicates where the species is found.

Leucospermum hypophyllocarpodendron hypophyllocarpodendron - Green Snake-stem Pincushion once occurred from Raapenberg and Retreat southwards to Zeekoeivlei and Westlake. It favours sandy flats and might still perhaps survive in peri-urban areas of Fish Hoek, Ocean View, Simonstown, and in forested areas such as Tokai. Unfortunately, in the Cape Peninsula, it appears to be extinct north of Silvermine

Of the three extant, indigenous Peninsula Pincushions, only Ls hypo h forms creeping carpets, with leaves that are hairless and usually flat.

Herbarium records exist for the area between Smiths Farm and Vasca Da Gama Monument - do plants still exist there? May more plants exist between Noordhoek and Kommetjie? This species is best seen in young veld - we lack seasonal data for February, November and December.
