Win a Protea Atlas T-Shirt! - December Competition


The answer to this competition is Jan van Riebeeck. Jan van Riebeeck's hedge is still visible today on Wynberg Hill and at Kirstenbosch garden.

December 1999 Competition This protea:
  • Was planted for its qualities as forming a good, dense and inpenetrable barrier.
  • Has remnants still visible today.
  • Is a national monument.
  • Has fruit that is poisonous to man.
  • Is currently coming into flower.

Who is credited with having planted the monument?

Every month a new protea (any member of the protea family) will feature.  The quiz will alternate between pictures, distribution maps and some historical/medicinal or horticultural feature of proteas.  Please feel free to enter every month. This month's prize is a cream, crew-neck T-shirt, with pocket emblazoned with the protea atlas logo.  Please specify your size (s,m,l,xl).


Rules:

  1. Volunteers, Protea Atlassers and members of the public may enter. No Protea Atlas Project Staff Member or the Webmaster may enter this competition.
  2. A previous winner of this competition does not win a T-Shirt unless there is a two month break to his/her winning streak.  The previous winner may still submit an answer.
  3. Your single entry must reach the Protea Atlas office by 31 December 1999.  It should e-mailed to  protea@nbict.nbi.ac.za
  4. The first correct entry drawn out of the hat is the winner.
  5. The results of the draw will be published at this web site.
  6. The judge's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered in to.
