A solid black dot indicates where the species is found. Protea cynaroides - King Sugarbush has a
multistemmed habit, leaves with a long stalk, and involucral bracts covered with white
fur.
Although it is usually encountered as scattered plants, it is widespread and thus gives
a good coverage in the atlas data. Pr cyna is present on all the higher laying sandstone
areas, especially in rocky areas, but appears to be very scarce on Chapmans Peak and
Karbonkelberg. It is curiously absent south of Smiths Farm in the Cape of Good Hope Nature
Reserve. Interestingly, there is a herbarium record from Bergvliet, but we have no atlas
necords of this species from the sandy flats of the Peninsula. |
