IDM Cape Peninsula - Sickleleaf Conebush - Leucadendron xanthoconus

A solid black dot indicates where the species is found.

Leucadendron xanthoconus - Sickleleaf Conebush is single-stemmed with silvery leaves due to long hairs held flat against the leaf.

Ln xant is the most commonly recorded Conebush on the Peninsula. While common on the mountains of the northern Peninsula (north of the Fish Hoek Gap), it is only prominent on the eastern side of Peninsula south of Fish Hoek. Scattered populations do occur on the west side of the southern Peninsula.

Putative hybrids with the Dune Conebush have been observed at Elses Peak and Karbonkelberg.

The distribution pattern between Lo xant and Ld cfrm west of Smiths Farm and around Else R needs to be investigated. Otherwise, their habitats do seem not to overlap much.
