IDM Cape Peninsula - Cape Flats Conebush - Leucadendron levisanus

A solid black dot indicates where the species is found.

Leucadendron levisanus - Cape Flats Conebush is the only Sandveld Conebushes (with small hairy seeds) on the Peninsula.

Growing abundantly adjacent to Table Bay it was frequently collected and frequently named. Today it is Endangered with extinction. It once occurred at Paarden Island, Salt River, Mowbray, Black River, Wynberg, Pollsmoor, Lakeside, Fish Hoek - Kommetjie, Witsand, Witsieshoek and Simonsberg and beyond to Mamre and Faure.

LD LEVI has been atlassed from the Kenilworth Race Course, Fish Hoek and Rondevlei Nature Reserve (where it has been planted). Have the survivors at Fish Hoek survived?

The record from Chapmans Peak is an error! Seasonal data from this rare species is paramount. If you live near a population, please monitor them monthly!
