Win a Protea Atlas T-Shirt! - June Competition

The winner of our June competition was Lyn McCallum who correctly identified the below protea as Thong-leaf Sugarbush - Protea lorea. Congratulations to our winner who receives a Protea Atlas T-Shirt.

Quiz - June 1999Identify this member of the Protea family (see the picture) and win yourself a Protea Atlas T-shirt. 

All the diagnostic features that you need to identify this protea are visible.   Clues, keys, diagnostic features and much more are available on this web site - browse to your heart's content. Alternatively, you may use the Sasol Proteas to identify the protea.

Every month a new protea (any member of the protea family) will feature.  The quiz will alternate between pictures, distribution maps and some historical/medicinal or horticultural feature of proteas.  Please feel free to enter every month. This month's prize is a cream, crew-neck T-shirt, with pocket emblazoned with the protea atlas logo.  Please specify your size (s,m,l,xl).

Rules:

  1. Volunteers, Protea Atlassers and members of the public may enter. No Protea Atlas Project Staff Member or the Author of this Web Site may enter this competition.
  2. A previous winner of this competition does not win a T-Shirt unless there is a two month break to his/her winning streak.  The previous winner may still submit an answer.
  3. Your single entry must reach the Protea Atlas office by 30 June 1999.  It should e-mailed to  protea@nbict.nbi.ac.za or posted to Protea Atlas Project, Kirstenbosch PB X7, Kirstenbosch, 7735, South Africa.
  4. Both the genus and the species name should be submitted. Please use either the  Official Common Names for Proteas or the botanical scientific name.
  5. The first correct entry drawn out of the hat is the winner.
  6. The results of the draw will be published at this web site.
  7. The judge's decision is final and no correspondence will be entered in to.
