A solid black dot indicates where the species is found. Faurea rochetiana - Broad-leaf Beechwood (= F.
speciosa) is a tree with leaves that are broad (25-60 mm wide), long (70-170 mm long),
with markedly different upper and lower leaf surfaces, and a short, thick stalk. It
flowers in winter.
FA ROCH is apparently locally common on the escarpment, but in KwaZulu-Natal is
confined to the area around Itala, which it shares with Protea gaguedi and Protea
comptonii.
It has been atlassed around Itala. More data would be appreciated.
The species extends to Zimbabwe and Mozambique. |
